...I admit I know nothing about Golden sun. And that the only reason I drew Isaac was because A. he was an assist in Brawl, and B. Golden sun has an absurdly large fanbase.
What's so great about it anyways? It looks like just another RPG to me.

Golden Sun has a little unique charm to it with its Psynergy, story, and characters. Yes, Psynergy is basically the "magic" of Golden Sun, but you can also use it outside of battle to solve puzzles; these puzzles add a nice touch to exploring the areas.
For its time, Golden Sun has one of the best GBA graphics with its Summonings and battle animation. The music is very memorable too; you'll be humming to Isaac's theme as you continue the adventure.
I got hooked to Golden Sun because of the characters, Psynergy, music, and gameplay.
